According to Vedic astrology, Pitra Dosh Nivaran Puja is usually performed by 5 pundits in 5 days. Which especially starts on the day of Amavasya Tithi or is completed on the day of Amavasya Tithi.

In this puja, especially Pitru Gayatri and Narayan Bali are worshipped. The most essential step in performing any puja is to recite the mantra specified for that puja and this chanting occurs most of the time, 125,000 times.

However, as per the chanting in Pitra Dosh Nivaran Puja, ideally one should chant 125,000 Pitra Gayatri mantras and the rest of the process or method is done with this mantra only.

In this resolution, the chief Pandit ji takes an oath before Lord Shiva that he and his other assistant Pandits are going to chant the number of Pitra Gayatri Mantras for a certain person, who is the Jataka and whose name, his father's name and his family's name are also taken in the resolution.
